The Apollo Theater presents the next edition of Southbank Centre’s ‘WOW – Women of the World Festival’ in May 4-7, 2017 with four-day multidisciplinary celebration of groundbreaking, socially-conscious female artists, activists and leaders from around the corner and around the world.  The Apollo’s festival weekend will include performances on the Soundstage, Mainstage and throughout the building as well as panel discussions and workshops. WOW is Southbank Centre’s annual global festival where women and men of all ages and backgrounds celebrate women’s achievements and discuss the obstacles they face across the world.  The festival was founded in 2011 by Artistic Director of Southbank Centre, Jude Kelly. The WOW four-day festival consists of numerous events on the Southbank Centre campus including talks, debates, comedy, workshops, activism, and performance on everything from politics, science, and sex to fashion, war, and power.  There are now 15 WOW festivals on 5 continents. This season’s WOW festival will be anchored by a special tribute to the incomparable Abbey Lincoln on Saturday May 6, 2017.

Bresi-Ando consults has been hired as co-curator of the humanities program which will be interactive and a gathering place for thinkers, artists, activists and leaders to exchange ideas and partner around social issues impacting women.

Apollo wow 2015The humanities program has to be culturally representative of Harlem and create presenting, mentoring and participation opportunities across generations which reflects current social, political, global and local concerns.

 

The BET Awards was set up to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports and other fields of entertainment over the past year. The awards ceremony has become the most watched awards show on cable in 2015, in total viewers and adults aged 18-49 according to telecast. In 2016, the ceremony was broadcast for the first time as a simulcast across 12 Viacom properties, ratings amongst 18-49 year olds were 1.9 million in the US as well as being a true global force viewed in 35 million households across the UK, France and Africa.  It leaves other award shows in the dust – in its 15th year, the BET Awards took place on June 26, 2016 in LA at the Microsoft Theatre.

BET Awards 2016 logoBresi-Ando consults was hired by BET International, to manage and run the consumer booth at BET experience. The BET Experience takes place in venues across the LA Live campus and began as a mostly outdoor three-day fest that drew about 75,000 fans in the first year and has turned into a four-day event dubbed BETX that in 2015 had more than 150,000 guests.

BET International hosted a booth area within the experience that served to raise the profile of the group as well as help fans understand the global reach of BET.

On behalf of 48 Communications, a campaign around the annual MET Ball in NY city to raise awareness of vegan skin care client, skyn ICELAND‘s deep roots in the fashion world.  To extend on the backstage prep of model’s skin before they hit the runway at NY fashion week, the agency devised a seeding campaign to those attending the ball and the MUAs working on the event.

‘ActuallySheCan’ is a campaign that aims to start a movement and important dialogue around modern female empowerment, celebrating young women and their ambitions. Through the use of the dedicated hashtag #ActuallySheCan, the campaign has created a platform upon which women can express their own goals, as well as perpetuate a larger conversation around female achievement and well-being.

Bresi-Ando consults was hired as a Celebrity and influencer booker, particularly targeting Black and Latino VIPs to take part in the social media campaign. The agency secured
engagement from Grammy award winner, Estelle, Mel B of America’s Got Talent and a variety of other female influencers.

Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) is a multinational, professional services network that is the world’s largest professional and one of the Big Four accountancy firms globally.  Bresi-Ando consults was hired to fill a senior manager role in the UK media relations team.

Get Living London (GLL) is the residential owner and rental management company of East Village E20 – the former London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Athletes’ Village.  The company was set up to make renting in London a better experience and to meet the city’s growing demand for high quality, rental accommodation.Bresi-Ando consults was hired to lead the PR function and during the agency’s tenure, GLL was announced ‘Property Newcomer of the Year’ at the 2014 RESI awards, won ‘Best New Place to Live‘ at the London Planning Awards as well as being the recipient of the Mayor’s Award for Planning Excellence.  More directly, the agency’s crisis communications plan for the development was ‘Highly Commended’ in the BEST ISSUES MANAGEMENT & CRISIS MANAGEMENT CAMPAIGN category at the 2014 PR WEEK AWARDS.

Bresi-Ando consults was tasked with ramping up awareness of the homes in the Olympic Park which housed the London 2012 Olympics as a high quality, stylish place to rent to live.  Building on previous work to trans­form East Vil­lage E20 in Strat­ford (the ex-athlete’s accom­mod­a­tion in the Olympic Park) into London’s new ‘must rent’ area, meant focusing on lifestyle publications and influencers that young profes­sion­als, liv­ing an act­ive, busy life consume and know about.

The MOBO Awards is one of two televised, multi-artist, music awards shows, shown in the UK on national television.  Famed for bringing UK youth culture to the mainstream and representing music genres that often get overlooked by the mainstream, the MOBO’s (as they’re affectionately known) has etched a place in British social history ensuring all music has a seat at the table.

Bresi-Ando consults ran all communications and PR for the 18th anniversary of the MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards.  This consisted of managing a team of 10 who worked across video production, editorial, graphic design, social media and PR as well as hired and managed the output of the PR agency supporting our campaign efforts.

Bresi-Ando consults worked closely with EventScotland – the national events agency and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau to hold the event at the (then) newly opened SSE Hydro – a state of the art, 13,000 capacity arena.

Simon Frederick is an award winning, advertising and music photographer who turned his attentions to putting art and uniqueness back into photo portraiture.  The exhibition, ‘My Mates At Work’ included some of Simon’s close friends such as actress and designer; Sadie Frost, shoe designer to Lady Gaga and Madonna – Gil Carvalho, actor – David Harewood. Iconic perfumer, Azzi Glasser, art dealer and urban curator; Steve Lazerides (who gave Banksy his first exhibition).

Bresi-Ando consults was brought on to handle media relations and event manage the debut exhibition.

Bresi-Ando consults was brought in mid-way to assist the New York based, not-for-profit; theGlobal Language Project with media relations and event handling for the fundraiser held by celebrity hairstylist; Nelson Vercher in late February 2013.

The Global Language Project (GLP) is an innovative educational movement that seeks to equip disadvantaged public-school students with the skills to compete in a globalized world and work force. Through Speak to Succeed, GLP’s free and comprehensive language training program, elementary school students will achieve proficiency in a language other than English.

There was a number of stakeholders involved in the event including: Iman Cosmetics, Gee Brand management, Nelson Vercher and Vested In Culture.  It was Bresi-Ando consults’ role was to draft and finalise the event’s press release then distribute to the various stakeholders and event management on the day.  Music industry juggernaut, Sylvia Rhone and her new label Vested In Culture also supported the event with a special performance by its rising Latin pop star, Kat Dahlia.

Film Africa is the Royal African Society’s annual festival celebrating the best African cinema from across the continent and diaspora in the UK.

Bresi-Ando consults was able to keep the very tight PR and marketing spend within budget while delivering exceptional coverage results gaining the interest of several high-level national and global media outlets and creating a buzz within the London film and African interest communities.

Programmed in conjunction with the renowned Senegalese singer and human-rights campaigner, Baaba Maal; Africa Utopia is a month-long festival of music, theatre, film, literature, dance, fashion, talks and debates, part of Southbank Centre’s ‘Festival of the World’ with MasterCard.

Bresi-Ando consults was brought onto the project the weekend before go-live, to help garner a buzz in the London fashion, culture and arts communities and also for those with a particular interest in all things African.

Internationally renowned artists such as  Angelique Kidjo, Baaba Maal, Oumou Sangaré, Muntu Valdo performed and an exciting range of talks and debates, expertly put together by The Guardian’s, Eritrean born Hannah Pool.  With titles from ‘China Loves Africa’, ‘Quick, Hide – Madonna’s Coming’ to ‘Nollywood or Bust’ all helping to shed an illuminating light on the reality of contemporary Africa.

Africa Utopia slideBresi-Ando consults drove this activity mainly through social media and press relations scoring a TV interview on popular Sunday show; ‘Shoot the Messenger’ with Henry Bonsu on Vox Africa for feminist blogger; Minna Salami.  Because of the consultancy’s strategic yet quick comms activities, Bresi-Ando consults was able to gain over 100 followers on Twitter and Facebook respectively in 24 hours and keep building on that number within the four week period to create and sustain a buzz around Africa Utopia.

Bresi-Ando consults was able to secure attendance from various influencers, bloggers and press including Arise Magazine and Dolce & Gabbana to the ‘Africa on the Catwalk’ show.

Eva Caridi is an award-winning artist who works between Greece and the UK and her debut London exhibition; ‘Nude’ explores the affect time has on the human condition, particularly the female form. ‘Nude’ is a spectacular exhibition which houses two of the biggest iron installations London has seen at 14,000 sq ft. with in the region of 11 tons of steel used and nearly 1000 man hours to fabricate each piece.

Eva Caridi at work, sculptingBresi-Ando consults started working with Eva Caridi and the ‘Nude‘ exhibition to run PR activity and event manage the private view which saw over 300 influential people from the arts and financial world experience the exhibit and take in the atmosphere..

This thought-provoking exhibition engages visitors to look at themselves in the stark light of reality where Caridi shows the soul undressed of the superfluous, the ephemeral and of the constraints and structures imposed by society. Taking place in the spectacular Ambika P3 venue; a 1960s, triple height, subterranean space, converted from the vast former concrete construction hall for the University of Westminster’s School of Engineering on Marylebone Road.

Helen JenningsBresi-Ando consults co-hosted and event managed the launch of her debut coffee table book as well as ran the PR campaign for New African Fashion.  It offers a brief history of African fashion, beauty and style as well as follows its influence on global trends.  Our remit was to event manage the launch as well as coordinate the invite list and press attendance on the night.  Through Bresi-Ando consults contacts and personal relationships, the consultancy was able to secure sponsorship from premium drinks brand, part of the LVMH group;  Belvedere Vodka as well as attract global celebrities form the worlds of fashion, music, entertainment and media.  Notable guests such as Shingai Shoniwa from the Noisettes, Nigerian AfroBeat star; 2Face Ndibia, father and son design duo; Joe and Charlie Casely-Hayford, renowned fashion blogger and stylist; Marian Kihogo and international models Yasmin Warsame and Armando Cabral all turned up to show their support.  The London launch was the third in a series of four global launches which two have already taken place in Johannesburg and Lagos.  After London, the New York one takes place in late November.
